An oversized camo jacket is a classic statement piece and the perfect way to channel your inner Cadet Kelly (or in my case, Blake Anderson). I just recently picked one of my own up from Urban Jungle in Brooklyn (they have an entire camo section, I’d highly recommend going there, or any thrift shop for that matter) and it’s been a true love affair ever since, to be honest.
Look One: Pretty Punk
I love the patterns on patterns look and so I layered a plaid mini skirt I thrifted over a simple mock turtleneck, threw on a pair of “frankenstein boots” I also thrifted, and added my trusty coat over it to create a rather grunge inspired aura. This is surely the way to be the talk of your local overrated DIY scene.
Look Two: 80s Disco Queen
There’s a line between overwhelming pattern layering and just the perfect amount and I guess I crossed it. Personally, I’m kind of living for the clash of the vibrancy of my top (shoutout to American Apparel's closing sale) next to the muted tones of the jacket, but that’s just me. Also, can we talk about those shoes?
Look Three: Class Act
Who says camo can’t be classy? Push the limits of “formal attire” with this clash of grunge vs. glam.
Look Four: Just Cas
Keep it lowkey with your favorite queer pop band tee and a simple pair of jeans, and let your coat truly shine.
